It has consumed my thoughts in the sense that here we now have 5 mythological characters from past literature that do not have any written connection to each other yet this series puts them together. The Wolf-man, Dr. Victor Frankenstein, his creation (s), The "Bride" of Frankenstein (Lily), and Dorian Gray. 8 characters it is, if you count Season One's main demon as being the "Dracula" of the series, which is most likely the case. Then there is Mina who is a character in Bram Stocker's Dracula and Dr. Van Helsing who is a "vampire hunter" from the same book. I feel extremely interested where this series is headed here. I absolutely cannot wait to see the Season Finale, yet Im disappointed that there's no real air date for Season Three yet. Which I suppose, gives me a lot of reading time for old gothic horror to make a hypothesis of Season Three and satisfy my interest of this subject matter until Season Three premieres. Also, possibly, put some loose ends together here.
John Logan is clearly not following the classic story lines of these characters to a T, however, I think there are some things right in front of our faces that we're not seeing clearly.......yet.
Here's what's "floating around my head" right now (DONT READ THIS IF YOU DONT WANT MT THOUGHTS TO RUIN ANYTHING FOR YOU): The only character we haven't seen yet is Dracula or specifically, anyone called by that name. He's a huge part of gothic British literature and there's been two characters associated with him featured already. So who's our Dracula? Is he right in front of our faces, will he never make an appearance or was the main demon who captured Mina in Season One our "Dracula" so to speak? I've been doing a lot of reading since watching this show; so far The Picture Of Dorian Grey and Frankenstein. Today I happened to be looking at the Penny Dreadful Facebook page and stumbled upon the Showtime store which is selling these 2 books for $19.99 in a trilogy called: The Penny Dreadful Collection. The third book...? Bram Stoker's Dracula. So now I feel positive our "Dracula," Mina, and Dr. Van Helsing were our connection and the missing Dracula. Yet, my hopes are we see something more of this nature in Season Three. Also I've watched the Season Finale preview 1,000 times ha and read enough to make some assumptions. Probably incorrect though ha!

I think we wont be seeing Dorian or Lily again. Some people are thinking that Dr. Frankenstein kills them is why they are bleeding, but they are already dead. I know for sure that Dorian cannot die because he can heal himself as we have seen and as far as Lily goes Im not sure if she can actually die either. It looks like their dancing scene may be their goodbye. I think Season Three will focus much more on Ethan and his past and not primarily on Vanessa. I mean, she can only battle so many things before it becomes redundant and the Inspector doesn't seem to be giving up on Ethan anytime soon. We still don't know EXACTLY "what happened" back home with Ethan. An article I read pointed out that John Logan has spoken about how he loves The Island of Dr. Moreau and that Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is a classic of Victorian society. Maybe hints on what we can expect to see. When he was asked about this being incorporated into the show he did say....."maybe." Both stories are based in London to begin with so that would make sense. I do recall Lily being surprised at the wax works exhibit when hearing that people experimented on the dead, for maybe medical reasons; which makes me think Dr. Moreau isn't too far off. Sir Malcolm's past has been exposed yet we're just starting to learn bits and pieces about Sembene. We have no idea what his capabilities are or if he's a classic character from gothic literature right in front of our faces, just in a different uniform so to speak. It has been confirmed that Rory Kinnear has signed on for Season Three so we can expect to see more of John Claire. In his state and condition the possibilities for his character are endless. Nonetheless, since there is no rush now, John Logan is free to expand and i can't wait to see his visions come to life! He did say in an interview today that things will come "crashing together" on Sunday! Excited!
And no EPIC Season Finale like this is complete without bad ass attire to match the evening occasion! So Sunday I will be wearing Black Milk Clothing's "What A Mess" Reversible Skater Dress, which is so comfortable and convenient. You can wear it low cut forward or spin it around for a higher collar look. It's perfect for this exciting night and I couldn't think of anything better to match this episode's theme :) See you Sunday!
